Why do my eyelash extensions fall out so fast?

A little shedding is normal, but if your set thins out within days, something's off. Here are the usual culprits.

Some shedding is completely normal

You naturally lose a few lashes every day, and the extension on each goes with it. A gradual thin-out over weeks is expected — a refill tops it back up.

Oils and oil-based products

Oil is the number-one enemy of lash adhesive. Oily cleansers, rich creams and some sunscreens near the eye break the bond down fast.

Water, steam and sweat too soon

Getting them wet in the first 24 hours — or skipping cleansing afterward — weakens retention. Clean, dry-then-cared-for lashes actually last longer.

Rubbing, picking and face-down sleeping

Friction is the fastest way to lose lashes. Avoid rubbing your eyes, never pick, and try to sleep on your back.

Application or material quality

Poor isolation, the wrong adhesive, or heavy low-grade lashes all shorten retention. This is where a skilled artist and quality Japanese materials really show.

If retention is a recurring problem, tell us — sometimes it's as simple as switching an oily cleanser, and sometimes it's about the set itself.
